How do we perform the floor protection service?

Before we proceed to perform the proper floor protection service, we must first properly prepare the client`s floors for the planned treatments. So we perform cleaning, abrasive and complementary works. Only after they are completed can we proceed to the choice of floor protection technology. We adjust it to the type and structure of the surface. Maintenance of floors is usually based on impregnation and acrylation.

It is worth emphasising that protecting floors is a complex procedure, which requires maintaining a certain technological regime and impeccable cleanliness in subsequent stages of the process. We guarantee a high standard of service thanks to the knowledge, skills, specialised preparations and machines that we use in such works.

Polymerisation

As part of the polymerisation, we apply a polymeric preparation to the client`s floor, forming an impermeable coating. Polymer has curing and anti-slip properties. At the same time, it gives the floor a high gloss and makes it easier to keep clean afterwards. When polymerising, we can acrylicate the following types of floors:

concrete,
PVC,
linoleum,
marmoleum,
tarkette,
rubber.

Crystallisation

Another method of floor protection is crystallisation, consisting in applying a chemical agent on the floor surface. It changes its structure, causing the surface to harden. This makes the floor more resistant to damage, has high gloss and anti-slip properties. Crystallisation works best with the following types of floors:

stone,
concrete,
conglomerate,
terrazzo.

Lacquering

Protecting floors by lacquering consists in applying several layers of lacquer, which leaves a protective layer on the floor. It is a very good method for protecting hardwood floors. Varnish will protect the surface of wooden floors of all types. It protects the floors from mechanical and chemical damage and moisture. At Horizont Global, we will select the varnish for wooden floors, i.e. gloss, semi-matt or matt based on the individual needs of the client. Wooden floors becomeslick after you apply a coat of varnish.

Oiling

When oiling, the wooden floor is protected by applying several layers of oil. It penetrates the structure of the wood and there is no additional coat on its surface. Thanks to impregnation of wood with oil, the wood can breathe and thus give off excess moisture. After impregnation, the floor becomes more resistant to damage and has antistatic properties. Oiling can be performed on most wooden floors, except for those containing calcium carbonate or silica.

Waxing

Another way of protecting wooden floors is applying a layer of wax onto their surface. It forms a top layer that prevents dirt from penetrating the floor. It has an anti-static effect, gives floors a shine, prevents water penetration and allows the wood to breathe, similarly as in case of oiling.

Hydrophobization

Hydrophobization means giving the floor water-repellent properties. It protects floors from absorbing moisture and liquids from the environment. Hydrophobization consists in applying a chemical onto the floor which penetrates its surface structure or leaves a thin layer on it. It is performed on various types of floors, including concrete, stone and brick.
